Bill Clinton is going to be at the Patrick/Murray rally in Worcester next Wednesday, the 25th. I heard about it last week and immediately took a half day, and last night I went and got tickets. The roommate refuses to go with, sigh, so I have an extra. Anyone interested? It's at the Centrum (which will never be the DCU Center to me!) and it starts at 5 but the doors open at 3:30.
Okay, hi, in other news, I've written a half a dozen entries since the last time I posted, all on the theme of OMG this move couldn't have sucked more. Everything went wrong, man. EVERYTHING. Because things kept breaking and the utilities companies could not seem to get us turned on, we went without hot water, electricity, heat, then electricity again, and we're still waiting for the phone and DSL. The folks at Verizon are apparently incapable of realizing that when we call to say the line is broken, it's not working, we. do. not. have. a. dial tone. When they finally ran a test on our line after a week of calling them to say no, still no dial tone! they found that oh yeah, it's broken! Then they couldn't send a tech out right away--we had to wait. Sigh.
Anyway, the posts keep turning into short novels so I'll spare you and just request that someone remember how much of a disaster this was and how miserable I've been, and if I mention moving in the next 3 years just shoot me in the head. Or yell at me a lot. Either/or! Thanks.
In brighter news, the apartment looks great, and we love it. I'll post photos maybe this weekend.
Jack the Cat has been having a blast. He likes to make escape attempts--except he doesn't go down stairs, so when he gets out he bolts up to the second floor landing and then screams to be rescued. He had a battle with the 3rd floor cat, whereby battle I mean she hissed at him and he panicked, poor baby. He also likes to start running in the kitchen and slide through the living room, rucking up the throw rugs as much as possible. He's actually lost a little weight--he wasn't chunky before, maybe a pound too heavy, but I have a feeling the vet is going to be really happy next time he goes in. I'm glad; giving him more space was part of the reason I wanted to move.
Plus, my 5 minute commute? So, so nice. So nice. I'm home by 5:45 and putting dinner together by 6, instead of home at 6:30 and feeling too wrung out to cook.
And we have basic cable, which I haven't bothered with in years. I'd forgotten how annoying commercials are and how disgusting political ads can be. If I hadn't already liked Deval Patrick and Tim Murray, I'd be voting for them just because Kerry Healey's 'OMG Patrick was a DEFENSE ATTORNEY! We don't want a governor who was an ICKY DEFENSE GUY!' commercials piss me off so much. I'd been reading about them in the paper, but the actual ads are so awful--man, I was seeing red.
So far I've been watching Studio 60 (which I love, though I hear I'm in the minority?) I'm also watching and adoring Heroes. And Supernatural...I love it. I love it SO MUCH. I keep getting distracted by how frigging pretty Jensen Ackles is but you really can't complain about that, right? Guh. I have story ideas, but I'm writing an SGA story right now.
Fandom yay, even if I haven't been online to participate in weeks and weeks! ;-)

Date: 2006-10-20 05:05 pm (UTC)So, uh... okay, screw subtlety: send me your new address so I can send you a tin of baked goods as a housewarming present.

Date: 2006-10-20 06:04 pm (UTC)I'll send you the new address, but I'm thinking I may have a small, fannish-friendly housewarming in November (although I know people get so busy this time of year--and you're just always so busy anyway, hmm...) Baked goods will be gladly received, but you could save 'em for a party!
I can't wait to get back on irc. See you there soon, I hope.

Date: 2006-10-20 05:27 pm (UTC)I also love Studio 60. I've read several Sorkin-rants on the friendslist, and I suppose I can understand them cerebrally when I read them, and objectively agree with some of the points, but when I'm watching the show, it's just a big lovefest. Sarah Paulson finally started to grow on me during the last episode, and I think that was the final nail in the coffin.

Date: 2006-10-20 06:09 pm (UTC)I'm the same way about Studio 60. I do absolutely understand the criticisms, and I agree that they shouldn't put any part of the skits on the show (I think they're the weakest part of every episode). But when I'm watching, I am just filled with glee. Sorkin does that to me every time, I am helpless to resist. ;-) So, I'm kind of sad, because I don't think it'll be a long-running show, but I'm really enjoying it while its on!
And I totally want to write Matt/Danny. They're just so *awesome*.
