I am ON VACATION!
In terms of last-days-before-vacation, this one was great. My friend J. is working at the DA's office for a summer internship, so she's 3 blocks away from me, and we met up at lunch today. Then we walked back towards my office and went to the ice cream festival, where we 'sampled' many delicious things. Mmm, chocolate peanut butter puddle ice cream. Mmm, birthday cake remix. Mmm, good company. I was sugar-high and happy the rest of the day.
Co-worker D. said 'You're really giddy this afternoon!' Haha. Oh, co-worker D., if only you knew.
Anyway, I can't express my excitement. For one, I've been exhausted, so I'm anticipating a few days of sleeping in. Two, this was a very tough, very busy week. Three, CON.TXT.
HURRAY.
I am both thrilled (omg, so thrilled) and nervous. I'm driving down, and I've never been on such a long road trip by myself. That is part of the reason why I'm driving down. Also I'm nervous because I'm shy! Sort of. In a very extroverted way. Sigh. ;-)
And, um, I'm sorry, guys, really. Very sorry. PMS, my friends. I promise not to yell at anyone. I make no promises about not bursting into tears at the slightest provocation. Whereby provocation I mean: people being cute, being funny, being smart, being bitchy, a sad story/thought/moment, the breeze blowing the right way, cats, dogs, pandas, really little kids, and/or absolutely nothing.
Have I mentioned that I'm on vacation? I'm going to write things and read the third Temeraire book and get my oil changed so that my car doesn't die on the ride down and I'm going to sleep and think about what I'm going to wear, and also, I'm going to sleep.
And then I'm going to hang out with approximately half of my friendslist. Best. Vacation. Ever. ;-)

Date: 2006-06-10 02:42 am (UTC)PMS, my friends.
Oh, honey. I'm hoping not, but it's entirely possible I will actually have my period while I'm there, and if that happens, I plan to OVERCOME THE ANNOYING SICK-MAKING UNPLEASANTNESS WITH MY WILL because I am going to have a GOOD TIME. Also, I had my period at Escapade, and it's just not fair to have it for both cons. All of which is to say that if I don't have my period, I will certainly at least be PMS-ing, so if you need to cry, you just come to me. I have reasonably soft shoulders. *g*

Date: 2006-06-10 02:55 am (UTC)How is it that your body knows JUST when to start, so as to be as horribly mean and inconvenient as possible? Dude, for both con.txt and Escapade--you're right, that isn't fair. If YOU need a shoulder to cry on, just let me know, because I'll be right there with you for sure.
Alternately, maybe we can hold it off with sleep deprivation, food, and good talk! ;-)

Date: 2006-06-11 01:50 am (UTC)Oh man, hurray for sleeping too.
We will think of you at con.txt, and it will not be 1% as cool as if you were actually there, but! But! Yeah, no, there's not really a but--I wish you were coming too!

No, I won't be in the DC area until Thursday afternoon...but I'll be staying until Monday morning! (Not that I actually have a place to stay Sunday night yet. Somehow I am not worried.) See you soon!
