So last week, I watched Master and Commander for the first time and didn't like it, watched it again and loved it, and ended up going out to buy the first six books in the series. Next time I read my friends list, who else has seen just Master and Commander and gone all, eee, love it?
laurakaye!
*waves madly* Hi Laura, nice to see you again. I'd just like to point out, this time I got there first, ahahahaa!
ETA: Of course, by first I mean years and years after lots of very smart people, including one who told me so. *G*

Oh, and this is Mei,

Date: 2004-08-01 11:58 am (UTC)I've read up to book 13 at this point--omg, love. And I think I've read all the M&C fanfic that exists, barring some drabbles and strictly het stuff. Definitely read all of Shalott's stuff which was, of course, excellent. (note to self, send feedback!)
Have you written any? I'm considering it but feel like I should wait until I've read all 20 books a couple times through, which is my typical approach to a new fandom. ;-)
Also, I've been wondering, what are other people's favorites among the books? And favorite scenes. I love knowing just what moments other people consider slashy!

Date: 2004-08-01 09:31 pm (UTC)Book 13?! Wow. You're a really thorough person when you love something, aren't you?
I'm still on Desolation Island. Couldn't handle the mother-in-law stuff, and took too long to get back to sea ^_^.
Do you have any fic recs? I'd be interested to read the good stuff. And yeah, it only seems right to read the canon about a dozen times before trying anything. Though the whole concept is making me go all "Napoleonic era, ah!" ::swoon:: Have you read the Richard Sharpe books yet? Similar notion, but by land.
As for favorite moments in the books, I think mine has to be the debauched sloth line. Because god, the two of them get into such stupid fights.
