Apr. 27th, 2004 09:45 pmThe most frustrating thing in the world keeps happening to me at work. I answer the phone and a recorded voice says, 'Would you like to participate in a political survey? If yes, please press one.' But when I press one quick and eager-like, it hangs up on me! And then I spend like twenty minutes trying to get the connection back, all YES PLEASE PLEASE ALLOW ME TO GIVE YOU MY POLITICAL OPINIONS YES PLEASE I HAVE SEVERAL! and there's nothing. Dead air.
So today I thought, hmm, perhaps it is just that I am overeager. So I counted to three and then pressed the button, all casual, why yes, a political survey sounds intriguing...although I know nothing of politics and care even less...I watch Fox News once a month pleasepleasepleasePLEASE LET ME GIVE YOU MY OPINIONS!!1!
No go. I am thwarted. But one of these days I'll be able to fake blase and uninformed long enough to fool the machine into thinking I like George W. Bush and should be allowed to take its survey and then it'll be sorry! Muahahahhaaa!
On an entirely different note....
A couple years ago, a pair of crazy kids eloped to Vermont and giggled their way through a marriage ceremony at the Ben&Jerrys ice cream factory. Today, my stepdad brought my mom a bouquet for every year they've been married, and my mom totally forgot that this was the day and sniffled happily for a little while, and then they made fun of each other a lot while eating ice cream. They are. the cutest people. ever. The end. :)
