fall down, go boom

I could write up an entire entry about how when I wake up sick in the middle of the night, I am the most pathetic and woeful person in the world, and everything is Doom and Horrors and Worst Case Scenarios, and in the light of day I am always vaguely fascinated, amused, and repulsed by it all, but I will spare you.
Mostly. *G*
Long story short, I am home from work today because I woke up feeling sick last night. I fell down a couple times when I tried to stand up, probably because my blood pressure was low -- surgery then going off the bp meds for a couple weeks w/out supervision then going back on, um, probably made my bp a little wonky, says my doctor -- and I hurt my ankle. I feel mostly okay now. My ankle is swollen, sore and bruised, but nothing to worry about. I've been taking it slow and my head feels okay. I'm going to see my doctor again pretty soon, so unless something like this happens again we'll wait until then to decide whether I can come off the bp meds for good, but whee. I will be not be hopping to my feet real fast from a prone position again for a while. Possibly EVER.
In other news, the most soothing thing in the world is sleeping kitties. Jack snores. I luff him. And it has been a long time since I made anyone look at photos of how flipping cute he and Sally are, so here. Have some pictures of my cats.
After Happy Kitty Funtime Hour (9am-10am, 7 days a week) comes Sleepy Kitty Naptime Hour (10am-11am 7 days a week).
After that, it is Evol Kitteh Menacing and Deviousness Hour(s). In case you were wondering. You don't go about being this cute without SOME kind of ulterior motive!

I love all pictures of cats when their target is acquired and lasers are charging. Also, I'm fairly certain that Sally's got a prehensile tail. WATCH OUT, WORLD.

These guys are 6" artist's models that I painted last week. A lot of fun!

For me, and also for cats. Jack in particular seems to think they are neat.

But then, so are rubber bands. Jack is easy.

And while I'm thinking about it, here are some photos from the art museum. A couple weeks ago, I went to see Coraline with
janet_carter and
lordessrenegade, and then rushed home to meet a friend at the museum. It was a good day! Coraline was so fun, and I had a great time at the museum -- they were doing a flora exhibit, with a gorgeous pond and landscape in their lobby, and floral representations of art in every room. I really love that stuff and took a ton of pictures. One I got yelled at for! It was pretty awesome, not gonna lie.

This one was my friend's favorite --

This is what I got yelled at for photographing, although photography was allowed everywhere else. This room was new modern exhibits -- I've never brought my camera to the museum before, so I didn't actually know this room was off limits to photographs. Didn't even think to look for the little sign. Oops!
Anyway. It is a pile of toothy mouths. Yes. I don't know what it means either. o.O

I did not take any pictures of the naked comic or sad, sad burlesque show that
loveyouallwrong and I went to go see Friday night, so I have none to share. You're welcome. *G*
Instead I will show you the video that I think is the entire reason the internet exists: treadmill kitties.
And now I will go back to bed. <3

Date: 2009-02-17 07:57 pm (UTC)Yeah, the floral interpretations are so made of win. I saw an exhibit of that nature at a floral show last year, so was super excited to hear they were doing something similar at the museum. Some of the floral designers just nailed it -- my picture of that kabuki robe one does NOT do it justice. It was a wonderful event!

I think I'll be good by my birthday. I will just plan to do as little wandering around as possible! \o/

Date: 2009-02-17 08:18 pm (UTC)You might want to take the rubber bands away from Jack, though; if they're swallowed, they can get twisted around in the intestines and cut off blood supply, requiring surgery. If he only plays with them under supervision, that might be okay, but I try not to encourage it in mine. :(
My Jessie adores rubber bands, to the point of turning over trash cans to find them, but I do my best to keep them out of reach!

Date: 2009-02-17 10:56 pm (UTC)I agree completely about the mouth things. It was a very bizarre piece of art to come across -- it was right next to the painting and first piece of floral design I posted. Contrast! *G*

Date: 2009-02-17 09:58 pm (UTC)no lie, I kind of love that I have friends who don't think it's at all weird or rude to show up, see a movie together, squee a little, and go home. *glomps you. carefully*
Pretty things! :D

Date: 2009-02-17 11:09 pm (UTC)And also, I thought on the ride home, huh, was it weird that we dragged her out of bed, ran to a movie, and ran home? But we all other things to do! That was the best time to see it! And also, it was kind of hilariously just how we roll -- drive 8 hours to see the movie of a concert you already saw? 6 hours for New Years/Easter/concerts? Wait in the rain for hours hoping we're among the right 200? Dash to Framingham for Coraline? OKAY.
We should get t-shirts made. Team Boston: All Ur Ridiculous Plans R Belong To Us *G*

Date: 2009-02-17 10:10 pm (UTC)This morning the cleaning lady and one of my coworkers were talking about it! The cleaning lady had gone to see it, and she was saying how omgscary it was and that there was a little boy hiding behind a seat who kept going "I chose poorly!" And then I got waaaaay mad because cleaning lady said it was Tim Burton. And basically repeated to me that everything Tim Burton does is creepy after I said, "But he didn't do Coraline." Ignorant and not listening! Rawr!
Personally, I liked it, and the boy seemed happy with it too. I think I saw creepier things as a kid, even without watching outright horror-type movies.
...for now. ^^;;

Date: 2009-02-17 11:22 pm (UTC)Coraline was creepier than anticipated, though some things were not as creepy as the book. Not too much for a kids' movie -- kids like to be a little creeped out, just like the rest of us who went to go see it. ;-)
I did see IT, Poltergeist, and Alien a little too young, though. *shiver* There are definitely limits.
We saw it in 3D though and I'm thinking about going back to see it in the regular animation -- I think you lose some details with 3D, you know?

The pictures from the museum are really cool, too - I really love the second to last one; that one just really jumps out at you.
