I went down to a party in Providence for Halloween tonight, and I was so baffled! There were trick-or-treaters! Actual little kids dressed in little costumes! o.O

Well, okay, so that wasn't the weird part--the thing is that me and my friend [livejournal.com profile] kerriberri, who was hosting the party, lived in a town where trick-or-treat was rarely on 10/31. It was usually held mid-week, and you could only knock on doors between 5-7. And okay, so our town had a high bar to residents ratio and it was probably about safety and not staying out too late to cause shenanigans, but it was still a really strict deal, and that's what I'm used to in my Halloweens.

So there I was at almost 9pm, passing out candy while behind me my friends were celebrating Halloween as 20-somethings do (I wasn't drinking tonight). And every time the bell rang, the kids were like, cute and innocent and eager to get more candy, and I was like, WHAT ARE THESE SHENANIGANS. DEAR ME, HOW PECULIAR. DID YOUR PARENTS NOT NOTICE IT WAS DARK, AND ALSO ACTUAL HALLOWEEN?

It was as if I were not a Halloween veteran at all, and was in fact a total n00b.

It was fun, though. My favorite was the little girl in head-to-toe Obama gear, including bumper stickers, t-shirt, and mask. I gave her some candy, told her I liked the mask, and she said, "Thank you, vote Obama!" and her dad beamed and I beamed, and it was pretty much adorable.

Anyway, I had a great time, saw a lot of people I don't see often enough, got a lot of compliments on the $2 sequined devil horns I bought at iParty 6 years ago, and came home early. I hope you all have had an awesome Halloween, and your candy hauls are MOST delicious. *G*

I was asleep by quarter past 10. I'm so lame. Stupid headache. Stupid period. Stupid shift. *sigh* Rather, make that a *yawn*. (I know I could just delete it, but this is tired logic in control!)

That is very sad and lame indeed, miss! But I'm hoping you feel better now. *sends many hugs, as is only logical( ;-)

Wow. Our block had an impromptu party on a neighbor's porch (1 stop trick-or-treating for the kids!) and so far as I know, nobody got egged. Then again, I know most of the kids who came by.

T'boy had a curfew of 10 pm last night (and made it with mere seconds to spare), and left some of his costume at a friend's house.

There were lots and lots of groups of parents and kids, it was pretty good. Everyone's apparently quite happy to be social when there's all those little ghosts and ghouls running around!

The best part of a costume is trashing it after. *G*

I learned just this week that some towns have official trick-or-treating times! It sounds un-American to me. (Quite possibly my town did too and I was just oblivious. But it was always on Halloween.)

I had no idea that freestyle Halloween was still an event!

When I was REALLY little, I lived in a town where it was always dusk to whenever on Halloween, but I think THAT town now does a trick-or-treat at the mall, mostly? IDK, my favorite childhood traditions got all ruined by overcautious parents. Jeez, what are THEY thinking? *g*

PS, are you trying for the FOB show Thursday night? I put my name in for the presale through OCK, but I'm wondering if anyone else did, there hasn't been a lot of buzz on my friendslist!

I am totally trying for the FOB show - I'm not in OCK (although now I'm tempted to join, if it's not too late), but I'm planning to take off work on Thursday and try to snag wristbands for myself and Jai (she has to be at a training during the day but could probably make the show). I have no idea what the chances of getting in are, but ASKDLFHDK;AHG FOB IN A TINY BAR.

Well, the OCK thing is I guess entry into a raffle for presale, so it's not guaranteed, and membership is like $39 with the shipping on the t-shirt they send you? I already had a membership so it didn't matter to me, but that may not be worth it? Although my vote is heck yeah. *grins*

If I don't get one that way, I will see you there for the attempts at wrist-bands (although I think it's one per customer?) because YES, the joy of FOB IN A TINY BAR. <3<3<3

Have you been to Harpers Ferry before? I have not, I am most curious about the setup and such.

Okay, I joined and entered the raffle; it's worth a shot. I don't think I've ever been in a fan club before! And yeah, I've been trying to figure out who I know that works near Allston and loves me enough to spend their lunch break helping me grab an extra wristband *g*.

I've been there, but it was 5+ years ago and I was not 100% sober - all I remember is bar in the front, stage and dance floor in the back, big for a bar but tiny for a concert venue. I really, really hope we can get in <3
