A Creationist? Srsly?

So I have lots and lots of things to say about Sarah Palin, and anyone who talks to me on IM has probably been forced to participate in a game I like to call fuck-her-and-the-5 toed eohippus-she-rode-in-on.

But I'll spare you, LJ, because I'm sure you've heard it by now. *g*

This is the thing that has me seeing red this morning:

In an interview with Washington Post reporters and editors Tuesday morning, McCain campaign manager Rick Davis outlined a strategy in which his candidate targets women and white working-class voters and essentially cedes the black vote.

Obama's "strategy is, 'If I can just deliver the votes that I know exist, whether it's in the minority community or the youth,' or whatever the coalition is that he's got . . . 'then I can win this election,' " Davis said. "We can run our campaign the way we want to run it and not be in direct conflict with a lot of voter groups he is trying to get."

36. And in their minds, despite the fact that this country is more diverse than ever, that's okay. They can win with their target voters! Because everyone knows that no one else's vote counts -- or rather gets counted.

*deep breaths* I only spent an hour stewing about the RNC this morning, it's fine. Although I do think I basically need to to take the weeks until the election off. Oh wait. *G*

ETA: And while I'm mad, let me just say. If you are calling my paper every 14 weeks or so to place a free ad to give away a litter of kittens, YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE. YOU JUST ARE.

And if you're my upstairs neighbor, who said when I went to tell you that your sweetheart of a kitten was trapped in our basement, "I'm going to take her to the shelter anyway. My daughter wants a guinea pig," YOU ARE ALSO AN ASSHOLE. *fumes*

Does anyone want a small, almost full grown, grey tiger, female, medium-haired cat? I'm tempted to take her myself (and name her Oogie, what, I like themes) but when you have 3 cats, you start to be that lady who has 3 cats. *g*

Exactly. Go to the shelter! Look what happens when other people are irresponsible, or want THEIR kids to have this experience, or think that a female animal who hasn't given birth feels incomplete, or that they need to be pregnant at least once, or whatever. Or, my personal favorite, they won't neuter or spay because it's 'unnatural'.

It's not like you often catch an animal in the act of giving birth -- not cats or dogs anyway, in my experience; particularly not cats. And the birth process itself can be ugly and distressing to children. What these people really want is for the kids to see newborn animals become fluffy and adorable babies, then get rid of the lot of them. They want the sanitized version of the miracle anyway -- so why bother with getting their own animal pregnant? Books, movies, The Discovery Channel -- there are other options!

*cough* not that this is a hot button issue for me, or anything.
