Dudes, I totally fail.
Exhibit A)
I was supposed to pick
bayleaf up at 10:30 in Providence, but her flight got rerouted to Hartford -- which I did not know because after work, I went down to have dinner in Providence with friends, and I'd left my dead-battery phone at home, and didn't even check online, just assumed everything was still going according to plan.
So I got to the airport and there was a flight with a similar number on the right airline coming from DC, listed as arriving at 11:26. So I sat down to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait. And at midnight, panicking, I went to the airline's office and FINALLY found out she'd been rerouted. I asked the woman working the counter to call Hartford and have Alanna paged, and she gave me ATTITUDE about it and said that the Hartford office was probably closed, and I had to literally BEG this woman to make the call.
Hartford office: not closed! Imagine.
Counter lady had a seriously snide tone as she said 'I have a girl here who is VERY worried about her friend, could you page--what was her name again?' And the Hartford people did not want to leave me on the line while they paged Alanna because 'you know, this is our only phone line.' Whatthefuckever, dudes, for real, I'm staying on the line, thanks.
So, I finally get Alanna on the phone and she's got family coming to pick her up and we made a quick flurry of phone calls and they very kindly volunteered to drive her to my house today, and I left the airport at about 12:30, saying 'Thank you!' to the counter lady, who did not even bother to respond. o.O
eta: OH! And Alanna had tried to have me paged, and Counter Lady had not been answering the phone. So much drama could have been avoided if I had my phone, yes, but also? If she'd been DOING HER DAMN JOB.
Night construction on 95 = delay getting home.
Somehow missed 146 = delay getting home.
Going home a stupid way because I was too tired to think clearly = home at 3am.
*facepalm*
Exhibit B)
I was supposed to bring in fruit, a dipping sauce, hummus, cheese, and bread, because our boss' birthday was this week and we always celebrate birthdays with food, but we all forgot hers. And then this morning I was so overtired and frazzled, I forgot ALL the food in my fridge, and now my co-workers keep saying 'I'm really craving fruit!' and 'Mmmm, hummus.' They think it's a riot, but I feel really bad, and since I'm only working a half day today, I won't even have a chance to run home and get the stuff.
My co-worker T. just said 'I love Ali so much, I just want to take her home with me, but my house would fall down.'
We have an upside, though: there's real people food in my fridge.
Exhibit C) Is not really part of the list, because I think that's all my fail. So far. For the day. I just didn't want a 2 item list. ;-) Then again, maybe that in itself is C, I dunno, did I mention 3 hours sleep last night? Anyway --
At 1:30, I go home, and at 2 Alanna will arrive, and then we will meet MissP and her husband for MCR, and then I will be on vacation. And I will SLEEP. For the WHOLE WEEK. Alanna can forget going home unless she wants to WALK. *grins*
