You guys. Your I VOTED posts have made me TEAR UP.

Yay for everyone--I voted just before 11, only a couple minutes waiting in line, but also no stickers left. That makes THREE presidential elections, no stickers. I am beginning to think there is some kind of cruelty afoot, because 11am! No stickers!

Well, either that or even here in safely blue Massachusetts, enthusiasm is high and turnout is ridiculous. ♥

I cast my first vote ever for Al Gore, when I was 19. My sister and I were the youngest voters at the polls, by far, and off the walls with excitement. I was devastated when he lost, but had no idea how bad things were going to get. I remember voting for John Kerry, and being so happy about it--my Senator! A man I felt and still feel is true to many of my own values. After he lost, I swore I was going to do more, and I have, although my main contribution to Obama's campaign has been money.

I've donated more to Obama, the Orange to Blue candidates, and No on Prop 8 than I should have, and I don't regret a penny of it. Obama and his campaign, the other true progressives on the ballot across the country, and the supporters of gay marriage have done incredible things, and organized armies of volunteers, and given me so much hope for our future. If we can get together like this, we can do anything, you know?

I'm not usually one of those people who comes over all sappy with patriotism and love of her fellow citizens, but the last few months of Obama's campaign have done me in. Okay, you got me, I give; I am so proud to support this candidate, and be joined by so many incredible people in the process.

So anyway. I voted. I'm nervous. I've never picked the winner in these Presidential contests. I don't know what's going to happen, and I don't know what I'm going to be feeling when I wake up tomorrow. But I voted with enthusiasm and hope, and so will many, many of my fellow Americans.

Whatever the outcome tonight, today is a beautiful day.
