Wrote more Chris Challenge story. Reads like a summary of a section. Will fill out easily *crosses fingers*
Sister arrived yesterday morning! Was brought to the mother last night--total surprise. Mom cried. A lot. "" And hit me, and asked me how the hell I'd managed to keep it a secret from her. Sister promptly spilled all the secrets I've managed to keep from Mom. Was hit again, and also grounded for two more weeks. (I got grounded on Saturday. Rebel! *G*)
Trisha's plan for last night--'Let's get doughnuts and watch the Lord of the Rings movies.' I didn't get that to a reference to The Night Alison and Trisha Were Funny, wherein we recreated the Lord of the Rings as a movie about doughnuts for the amusement of our friends. Yeah. The level of our dorkitude is high, and I can't *believe* I'd forgotten about that.
We ended up with truly plain doughnuts, none of that Krispy Kreme (double-glazed!) plain doughnut shit. The way the glaze is used with the Krispy Kreme doughnuts seriously makes me ill and Trisha hadn't had a really plain doughnut in so long that we ended up having a 10 minute discussion about it with the counter help at Dunkin Donuts.
At dinner we had a long discussion about how Trisha is more afraid of her husband going to sleep one night and just not waking up the next morning, which is how soldiers are dying over there right now. Also soldiers are jumping into the Euphrates (sp?) to swim, and not come up. Trisha made jokes about the Loch Euphrates Monster, but it's a genuine fear for her, that Nate will go in and not come out. She's not nearly so worried about combat.
I've been coughing since I was on vacation. It is now coughing with pain and with ick, but I still don't really feel sick. Bringing my doctor's number to work though and will try to get an appt, it'll be the first time I've been in. Faaaaar too long. Erk.
Do I really need to sign up for another challenge, when I still haven't finished my Berrigan story and the Chris challenge is so near due? Can I really resist the lure of a happy ending? I don't know! I'd better sign up just to find out.
