Apr. 25th, 2003 03:10 pmAs I am a naughty Giddy, I post this from my living room--because I am playing hooky today. Called in! Whoo! Haven't done that in forever. And I cleaned a little (whoo, sparklyjam *G*) and slept a lot and ate cheese. All in all, an enjoyably wasted day. And one that I desperately needed too, since work has been most severely kicking my ass lately.
Last night while we were chatting, I was also working on one of my challenge fics, the Ted Berrigan one. Got about 6kb done and was ready to rejoice when Merry spoiled my fun by telling me that there's a difference between an outline and a story. Doh. *G* Up to 10 as of a couple minutes ago but if this story hits 15, it'll be a total surprise to me.
I like it, kind of, but it's a habit of mine to detest things I'm working on once they hit nearly done so this probably won't last long. *G* Right now the reason I only kind of like it is because I'm in one of my rare moods where I want to write a big, sprawling story, and completely wallow in it. The problem is that I totally can't write for more than an hour at a time, and if something is going to take much longer than that to be completed--well, most likely, it won't ever be completed.
In other random news,
lilydale? Amazon.com sent me an email the other day. Apparently you're for sale over there, 30% off. However, you also appear to be a town that speaks to the dead, so I think you can see why I didn't grab my credit card. ;-) I'm working the weekend of the Scully marathon but will probably try to come after and keep forgetting to send email to say so. Count me in for now, please, and let me know if there's anything I can do or bring?
And also, Baby Trickyfish! An adorable picture, almost a match to my favorite one. The way Chris just hugs and Lance holds his hands--seriously, awwww. I am tempted to have a scary they'resodating!moment, but really, I'm also trying to refrain. No, really! I am! *G*
Speaking of Trickyfish. Last weekend, I went out and bought two betta fish because I couldn't go on without pets any longer. Well, pet, originally. I didn't mean to buy two but a) I couldn't choose just one name and b) they were so cheap! and c) they were so pretty!
Technically, I'm not supposed to have animals, even fish, according to my landlords. But I'm just going to say, well, I thought you meant a big heavy fishtank would be bad (like my big heavy bookcases). I didn't think you'd mean two little fishbowls! Really! Because that is a little ridiculous, isn't it? However, fish #1 was named Illicit Fish before I even went out to buy him. ;-) Fish #2 is, appropriately and perhaps obviously, named Tricky Fish. Hee.
My mom came over Tuesday night with my stepdad and she spent all her time with a mirror, making the fish cranky, until stepdad finally said, D. Stop it. That's not nice. Then she cackled evilly and wandered off to poke around in my medicine cabinet and under my sink. My kitchen disturbed her--I have this little ceramic pig thing and he looks kinda crazy. He's a candleholder but seriously, crazy, so I've filled him with these little mints that look like pills. I find him amusing but even though she's mentally twelve, my mom didn't think it was funny. Serves her right for poking around! She did help me hang my blinds though. *G*
All right. No one's shown up on either IRC or AIM, so I suppose I should hop offline and. I dunno. Lounge on the couch some more, with the remote and a book and cookies close at hand. Those chocolate/peanut butter Oreos are seriously killer.
