Mystery solved!
Nov. 3rd, 2002 09:15 pmI meant to mention this earlier! A couple months ago, I was moaning on LJ about my tattoo, the surface of which is raised and sometimes seems very swollen and itchy/burny, and I could never figure out why. Well, I was at work on Saturday and M. and I were talking to our veterinarian about tattoos--the vet is so cool, she's this little tiny blonde, 4'10 maybe, who rides a motorcycle and has six tattoos herself and is just a genius--
Anyway.
So she started frowning the more I was describing and then she asked to have a look. My tattoo is on the back of my neck, no big deal, I just tipped my head and let her look. She immediately started clucking her tongue. What she thinks happened is that the tattoo guy went too deep and created a ton of scar tissue and scars, you know, do that kind of thing sometimes.
Anyway, so it's not all in my head, as my mother suggested. And it's not me having some kind of allergic reaction to the ink, as was suggested by others. And it's not Jodie Foster possessing my brain, a la the X-Files. It's a bad tattoo job!
Sigh.
The vet gave me the name and number of her tattoo guy. I've been thinking about getting another one and almost went back to the place I had this one done! Glad I didn't, now, yes.
There were a couple of you--um, actually, maybe just one person on my friends' list who had the same problem, I don't remember and don't feel like looking it up. But there y'all go. PSA. ;-)
Anyway.
