Getting to know you

I got tagged --

1) How has LJ changed your life?
I'm with Pet on this one -- it'd be easier to list how it hasn't changed my life. I've made a lot of true friends through lj and fandom, and I can't imagine my life without them!

2) What do you do before bedtime?
I don't have any pre-bedtime ritual -- I'm usually online until I run out of steam, and then I read a few pages of whatever book is lying around and pass right out.

3) What are you going to have for dinner tonight?
I am thinking of sushi, actually. The grocery store around the corner from me has okay sushi and I've had a real craving for spicy tuna! I have to get out and do my grocery shopping at some point anyway.

4) What is the ONE place you want to go to before you die if you had the money and the time?
There's SO much travel that I want to do. I pretty much just want to see everything! I'm fairly ridiculous -- I've always found it entertaining to sort of job & house hunt all over the country, and I LOVE looking at vacation spots in other countries. Cities, beaches, the woods, the jungle, Asia, Europe, whatever, I just want to go there.

If I had to choose just one though, I'm hoping that by the time I've got money and time, the moon is open for tourists. I love looking at photos of the Earth from space, but I would most love to see it for myself!

5) are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I'm more introverted than I used to be. The older I get, the quieter and more shy I get, it seems. But I also really, really enjoy having people around -- I'm a bit of both, really.

6) What do you do in your free time?
I'm a big reader, whether it's fanfic, blogs, news sites, an old book, a new book, cereal boxes -- I'm a fan. I also enjoy spending time with friends quite a bit, which means I spend time at bars and restaurants, going to movies, playing poker, etc. I like going to the ocean, and I like disc golf a LOT. These days it seems like free time is in wicked short supply, though!

7) Do you trust easily?
Less easily than I used to -- it's like how I'm quieter these days. ;-) I'm also a little more cautious. I don't distrust people, and I haven't like, been too badly burned by anyone, I'm just careful.

8) What personal belonging do you have with you everywhere you go?
Hmmm. Nothing of any particular significance -- I'm paranoid about being locked out of my house so I almost always have my keys on me, if that counts. *grins* But my stepdad was like, "Too many keys or keyrings and you knock the something-something out of alignment on your steering column!" so it's a pretty barren keyring. I do have a metal 4 leaf clover keyring that I've had since before I even remember. License, debit card -- pretty boring stuff.

9) Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Politics. The state of politics in this country makes me DEEPLY unhappy.

I was at my doctor's office on Saturday am, waited 1.5 hours to be seen, and the whole time they were playing Fox News. I wanted to claw my eyes out. The best moment, though, was when they trumpeted their interview with Barack Obama at noon! and literally the next topic of discussion was, what's with the media obsession with Obama! *facepalms* Idiots.

10) What is your best quality?
I'm not particularly demonstrative so I don't know if the people I love realize how much I love them, but I do, wholeheartedly. I'd say that's my best quality because it's where most of my good qualities come from. ;-)

11) Is being tagged fun?
I don't mind it -- I'll do an internet survey on a slow day, no problem.

12) How do you see yourself?
Easy-going, loyal, amusing (no one entertains me like I do *G*).

13) Do you prefer rain or snow?
I like grey, rainy days. I find them really relaxing, and they usually either mean that it's not TOO cold or that the TOO hot is going to break soon -- relief!

14) What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
Everything she thinks she is, plus some extra awesome for good measure!

15) Poor but loved, or rich but hated?
I don't mind being poor, but I'd prefer moderately well off and loved. *grins*

16) How many children do you want?
When I'm holding a baby, my whole body says, WANT. WANT. LET'S GO MAKE ONE OF THESE. However, the minute I give the baby back, my brain comes back online and says, NO, NO, DO NOT WANT, CANNOT HAS. I come from, you know, I'm the product of many generations of bad parenting. It's not that I wouldn't have the best intentions, but I don't want to continue the family tradition. So I don't intend to have children of my own -- I'd rather be a doting auntie (by blood or not) than a shitty mom.

17) What's better; to give or to receive?
I much, much prefer to give. I really enjoy it. I've never had the money to be particularly extravagant, but I am good at finding things that make of people and leaving them on their doorstep -- like your cat bringing you a present, only a little less dead. Generally. I do bring my mom bouquets, even though she likes live plants. *G* I love Etsy -- it makes thoughtful gifts so easy and fun. I'm also big on giving to charity and I love things like chipping in for presents on lj. It makes me happy.

18) What do you feel about sex without love?
Totally okay with it. I draw the line at sex without respect!

19) Would you have 100% safe sex with a stranger for $10,000,000?
Yup. I might even cross that respect line. *grins*

20) What would you name yourself if you'd been born the opposite gender?
If I had been a boy, my parents would have named me Lucas Alexander, and that's sort of the only other name I can imagine having!

That is one hundred percent my stance on children. Everytime I see one, I want it, but then I want to be able to give it back!
