Seriously, guys. S-R-S-L-Y.

Okay, when you've spent too much time trying not to talk about inappropriate things because you're 3 feet away from Alex Suarez and The Cab has been sitting at the tables next to you for an hour, making eye contact and desperate apologies for their drunken friend, it's time to admit that something has gone horribly sideways in your life. It just has.
Which is to say that somehow Sunday's Middle East adventures were possibly more awesome than Saturday's Trackside Teen Center. For one, the snack bar was a SERIOUS UPGRADE.
It was too cold to meet people at Starbucks so we met at the Middle East instead. We ate a TON of fantastic food, and at one point had a hilarious moment where the door opened and it was like THE ENTIRE INTERNET had arrived. We counted 27 people in with us, and there were more in line already!
At 6, when doors were supposed to open for the show, we all bundled up and went outside and tried to find the end of the line, which was WAY FAR AWAY because other people are crazy, and 14 of us huddled like penguins in a circle and made fun of each other, and had ourselves a grand time for about 20 minutes. Then there was one good cold-ass breeze and we marched right back in. The line didn't actually start moving until almost 7, when we jumped back out with the rest of fandom, so that was really the wisest possible decision. *G*
Most of us were over 21, so we shamelessly ditched
loveyouallwrong and
kalpurna and somehow managed to park ourselves near the rope on the side of the stage--right in the way of everyone who was going from backstage to the bar, which led to many hilarious encounters, but also a really great view from very very close. Without trying! Or waiting in line! WTF!
Oh, and MissP was trying so hard to be stealth--"Gabe's standing right there," as in like, 3 feet away, and I just could not hear her. I was like, WHAT? WHAT? Until she finally just had to pretty much yell "GABE. IS RIGHT NEXT TO ME. HOW DO I NEED TO TELL YOU THIS HE IS RIGHT THERE."
In my defense, there were lots of tall skinny people in purple hoodies, okay, he was hardly UNIQUE AT THE MOMENT.
OH--Trackside people, you remember the tall dude in the skin-tight electric blue pants, with the Ryan Ross hat and scarves look going on? And how we were all making so much mock of him from the snack bar? Yeah, he was totally backstage. I was DYING. I want to know if he was actually with them all along, or if they picked him up for his long skinny legs in those jeans. HEE.
The Cab had a hilarious drunken friend. She looked like she was maybe 19, trashed off her ASS, and Making Things Dramatic Like Walking Through A Crowd OMG Don't You Know She's With The Band? Their set was better Sunday than Saturday, I think the sound at the barn was very not good, shocker. I kept saying on Saturday, "I was willing to give them a chance because
canadiancracka likes them so much, but no, they're actually just REALLY FUN." *grins*
We greatly enjoyed them, and then after their set we got run over by them several times as they attempted to get their gear off the stage, but forgave them because they looked pretty stressed by it all, and also it's hilarious to be run over by The Cab. But anyway. *g*
So after their set, a bunch of us including
riadsala,
mazily,
femmequixotic and
ze_dragon collected
loveyouallwrong and
kalpurna again and just like Saturday, went off to the snack bar.
Only in this case the snack bar was the Middle East, which meant we went upstairs, sat down, and a very nice waiter in Dolce & Gabbana jeans served us, and some folks had falafel and etc while the rest of us had baklava and coffee or mint tea. SO MUCH BETTER OMG. Not a freeze pop or Capri Sun IN SIGHT. \o/
Alex Suarez came up and was hanging around next to our table and we were all making this face o.0 and talking about chasing people for fun and how some might call that 'Playing Tag', and what you could do if you were being chased by Ron Paul down a dark alley--answer: cry, because that man is FUCKING INSANE and I'm pretty sure he's actually VOLDEMORT, but whatever.
At least it wasn't mpreg, which we'd been Very Seriously Discussing only moments before.
And then The Cab sat down and we were like oh, wtf. Some of the people at our table had been trying and failing NOT to eat meals with The Cab ALL DAY. *grins*
Poor
kalpurna was all *sad face* "I just can't think of anything to talk about but cock!" for the second meal in a row.
The most hilarious thing was that their drunken friend was really, really drunk--kind of "wow, I sort of feel bad for her" drunk, but also obnoxious. And every time she was obnoxiously loud, we got obnoxiously louder, and so we're sitting there all hunched over dying of laughter, and someone who was probably named Alex was looking at
kalpurna and apologizing for their friend, and I just. We were totally 10x more annoying than she was. Poor The Cab. Surrounded by crazy!
Eventually we made our way back to the same spot we'd been in, only to have close encounters with pretty much everyone on the tour, ha.
Cobra Starship--okay. Seriously, they bring the best dance party. There seemed to be a lot more personality tonight, maybe because they had room, maybe because for real, Massachusetts crowds >>> Connecticut crowds. *grins* But it was just SO MUCH FUN.
We were slightly above the stage, so a MUCH better view, and Gabe is SUCH a showman. He was clearly enjoying the show a lot, and really had a great rapport with the audience and the band (Gabe/Ryland. I want it. NAO.)
Vicky T. is SO PRETTY. She has this sweet face and gorgeous legs, and she is just, ugh, ridiculous. Same goes for Alex and Ryland--they're so fun to watch, and they have great voices--I just like listening to them talk.
I couldn't really see Nate, but at one point Gabe sat down and started playing the drums, and then he boogied off and was like "HAHA YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA HOW PISSED AT ME NATE IS RIGHT NOW, HAHAHA," and it was actually hilarious.
For their encore, they were just goofing off and Ryland was trying to get Gabe to sing a Cobra Starship song, and Gabe was singing pretty much ANYTHING BUT, including a little of I Believe I Can Fly, which omg, Patrick/Gabe karaoke fic plzkthnx. <3
And Ryland is just SO FUNNY, btw. I know, you're shocked! He seems so dull and humorless! But I luff him. Earlier, he was carefully giving girls in the crowd drinks of water and Vicky T. was like "aaaw, like a momma-bird," and the smile on Ryland's face was RIDICULOUS.
Gabe made out with a lifesized cardboard cutout of Zoolander, wore a fanny pack some girl in the audience gave him and worked it into a song, explained why he has a crush on one of the dads who'd come to the show, admitted he has no idea why his band is taking off, and was generally so awesome that I don't even know what to do about how adorable I now find him. Gabe Saporta, guys. IDEK. I would seriously go to the Cobra Dance Party ALL THE TIME. <3<3<3
After the show,
fayemeadows,
misspamela and I drove home and I got us LOST. MissP was like, "turn left here," and I saw a sign pointing right for the Mass Pike, so I went right, and me and MissP bickered about it for MILES, while I just navigated us with UNERRING INSTINCT towards Harvard Square, because I CAN'T NOT GO THERE. I can't. It's a physical impossibility.
bayleaf, I was dying, I kept saying, "Alanna is going to CRY when she hears about this."
So we finally get on the highway, and
riadsala,
loveyouallwrong and
kalpurna called, lost--they were going to come have a last-minute slumber party. We tried to give them directions, thought they were okay, and drove home.
Walk in my door, and they call from Arlington to say they are STILL LOST. At this point it's like, 1am. They've been driving for OVER AN HOUR. HARVARD SQUARE HAD EATEN THEM UP AND SPIT THEM OUT. So the slumber party became a no, seriously, pajamas, blankets, good night party. They finally arrived, we passed out, Jack the Cat wandered around distressed and meowing and sniffing people's heads, and all too soon it was morning again.
I dropped
riadsala off at the train station at the ungodly hour of 8:30 am, because there was a rotary involved in getting there and poor
loveyouallwrong looked like a rotary was THE LAST THING she could handle, and then we all sat around in my living room being hilarious and mean for a couple hours, until I dropped
kalpurna off for her train, and everyone else split for home.
I just. Awww, I'm sad that another bandom weekend has come and gone, but I had so much fun. These things are truly like mini-cons--meeting 50 fangirls over 2 days for ridiculous amounts of laughter and food and adventure, I love it. Yay, bandom. Just yay. :)
Also, I think I really can't emphasize enough how awesome
quettaser is. She said while we were in line at a later point, "Well, if I'm going to four Cobra shows in one weekend, everyone is going to four Cobra shows in one weekend." Which was hilarious, but so great! She really did an amazing job of organizing tickets and who needed to be where, and really just saved the weekend for those of us who hadn't lucked out in the ticket department. ♥
