New Year's Eve was a blast, although it had a bad start when I drove around for 4 hours trying to meet up with
misspamela to see Brokeback Mountain. Rte 128/95 is NOT my friend and an hour and a half after the movie started, I finally made it to the right town but the wrong theatre. I didn't even KNOW there were 2 theatres in that town. Grarrrrgh.
But a couple hours after I got home, Trisha and I met up with some of my friends for dinner, then we headed down to Providence despite horrid road conditions--ice, snow, all the fun stuff. Many hours of drinking later, six of us (the non-wimps! :-p) were out in front of the townhouse having the best snowball fight of all time, omg, so much fun! I went to bed around 4 and then woke up around 9 and came home feeling ridiculously hungover--seriously, okay, I don't know what it is about parties in Providence but I come home a *mess*--and yet also ridiculously cheerful.
In fannish news, it's DWNOGA and Yuletide reveal time!
This year, I wrote two DWNOGA stories. One for
lilysaid, Everything in its Place, GSF.
Lily! I'm very amused that you guessed it was me! I want you to know, this story made me miss NSYNC so much, the group part was so so easy and fun, I had an absolute blast with it. It also led me on a wild chase around the internet in search of good group sex fiction and other varities of porn, which was. Well. Educational. But everytime I tried to sex up the ending it just didn't seem to work for the story. Anyway, that's an apology for not writing you porn. *grins* I'm glad you liked it!
kaneko and
merryish did read-throughs, as did
astolat and
terrio--brave souls who aren't even pop fans, but who helped tremendously!
I also wrote The Only Constant for
ephemera_pop, Chris/Lance.
I got this assignment the weekend before stories were due--which is also the weekend I got a concussion. *grins* I took the story anyway because OMG, Chris/Lance, how much love do I have for them? More than can be expressed, ever! I was really glad to have the chance to write them for another year of SeSa. It made me so happy.
For Yuletide, I wrote Good for You, Eric/Vince from Entourage, for
estrella30.
I put this on my Yuletide list after having watched 3 episodes with
misspamela, because I was SO IN LOVE with them! When I got
estrella30's request, I freaked out--yay, someone I know! Yay ENTOURAGE! Yet also, OMFG, what was I thinking? *grins*
This story was so much fun to write. I can't even count how many times I rewatched s1, etc. The episodes were seriously just little candies that I couldn't resist. And now I've got a little list of other Entourage stories that I want to write. So much fun.
misspamela helped immensely and made sure that the guys stayed in character.
astolat,
terrio, and
merryish also did beta on this one--again, without being familiar with the fandom. Brave, brave beta readers. *grin*
Big thanks to
firequill, who wrote Chris/AJ for me (Check, double check) for SeSa!
And also to
gritkitty, who wrote me what is now one of my favorite Master & Commander stories ever, The Murmuring of Bees Has Ceased.
Aaaaand that is the New Year's roundup, I guess. Best wishes for a wonderful 2006, guys--you all deserve it! :)

You know, I haven't had a chance to dig into them either? It's been such a busy few weeks--it took me 5 days to have time to read the stories written for me, let alone anything else! But from what I'm hearing, quality was high for both SeSa and Yuletide this year. Very exciting!

"And I'm strange. And bitter."
"I'm strange and happy," Lance said. "Do you want to see my cosmonaut certificate?"
Oh yeah, baby. That's the trickyfish I know and love.

Hee! I was blown away by how perfect it was; just funny and happy and them. That was the thing that stood out the most, I think, because there are so many different interpretations of the guys, so it was a treat to get a story where they were characterized in such a lovely way. No apologies needed for lack of porn--I was telling someone the other day that the story needed no porn whatsoever, and that it was totally the right decision not to force it. But of course you didn't make any mistakes with such wonderful writers helping you, and all I can say about this year's SeSa experience is yayayay!

Thank God for beta readers, honestly. You might've ended up with bad porn if no one had said 'yes, yes, it IS good like that, leave it--no, stop--no, PUT THAT DOWN, MORON, JEEZ!!' a couple dozen times. *G*

P.S. I am NOT a wimp!!

b) trying (and most likely failing) to not be stalkery, but did you get the email I sent re:

you have that slippery, flirty yet needy tricky voice of Vince's down so well that as SOON as i read this: He tried out for the school play mostly to spite the boy who had told him he was too pretty for the basketball team. i though, mm, i bet E said things like that to him.
i love that instead of asking for him, Vince makes a commotion, makes E come to him (except, of course, how E totally is the one who held out).
and here: He leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest. "Good for you, man," he said to the tabletop and Vince couldn't even be mad 'cause he fucking meant it, Eric, he meant good for you when everyone else in Queens had meant fuck you, give me something. not only can i SEE that, but it's so true, and so painfully real.
and THIS made me laugh, laugh, laugh. "He's in the fucking room," Eric muttered, and his mother smacked him on the arm.
"You need the soap?" she said to him, glaring fiercely.
"No, Ma, sorry. But I am in the room!"

<<that there are some stories (and believable ones, i think) about how eric's the one in love with vince, how eric's the one who knows what he wants and has to try to talk vince into it.>>
*nods* I've read and adored those stories too, but when I was obsessively watching and rewatching the episodes, it just seemed like if anyone was a little oblivious to the subtext, it was Eric. Vince was all eyefucking, posing, jealous, supportive, manipulative, and devoted in his strange Vince way. Eric just didn't seem to always get it.

I love him for being the eyefucking, posing, jealous, devoted bastard that he is, much the same way that I love Timberlake. ;-)
Anyway, thanks so much. I'm sorry to respond so late, and I'm seriously very glad that you enjoyed the story. Yay for post-holiday fic round-ups!

I'm so so glad that you liked it. Hopefully if/when I write them again, it won't disappoint!
