I randomly printed this out right after I printed out Maisiereta's groundhog day story. Juxtaposing them was fascinating.
What it reminded me of is the skilful way Connie Willis handles time travel (stay with me on this analogy). Also, if you haven't read Willis, try her. She's one of the best SF authors alive. She has one time travel novel which is tragic and terrible - the protagonist winds up in the wrong place and nothing she does can help the people there and she is constantly lacking vital information she needs (I shall compare this with Maisiereta's work). And she has another novel which uses the same time travel motif and the confusion to make things wacky and funny (which is your take). Both - fabulous.
