First came love...

Trishafish and Cujo came up from North Carolina to get the rest of her stuff and have a wedding party. We did this big barbecue thing over at my Mom's house--it was so funny. Just, so so funny. We ended up having a wedding for them, completely at random. Someone found Trisha a curtain to wear as a veil and she carried a bucket of pansies. I was maid of honor and my cousin Sara was a bridesmaid, Kerri was the best man because she was the only one willing to do a toast. My stepfather was the minister, and read from "The Book of Ford Maintenance and Marriage Tips. Page 363, Section D: Lug Nuts, or Communication is Important."

My eight year old cousin Neil refused to be the flower girl because a) he's a boy and b) flowers are girly *and* he's a boy. My cousin Jake said, "I'll do it. I want to be a transvestite someday," and had us all just *rolling*--he's eleven! And an absolutely hysterical little nut. That was a little too creepy though and so eventually, we talked Neil into it by telling him that instead of being the flower girl, he could be the bricks-and-thorns boy, except his bricks-and-thorns would actually be daisies. I dunno why, but that was apparently all he needed! *G*

It was really just...absolutely hysterical. It sounds dumb, I think, and it probably was dumb. But it amused us all for like an hour, and we'll be talking about it for years. Also, photos--we took a whole roll of film and hopefully it'll come out well since this was the kind of wedding dreams are made of! *G*

I actually am surprised by how much fun it was. I had expected to want to kick people--stepdad's family is remarkably prejudiced, really. Nate (Cujo) is half black and half irish, and when they first heard they were very negative. But my stepfather *loves* Nate, and he's a really good judge of character, and his family knew he'd be pissed if they didn't at least try to get along--and I think most of them were surprised by how much they actually liked him. Everyone except Jim's brother-in-law Don, apparently, who calls me and Trisha "the liberal shitheads" and is a patronizing jackass At All Times. I hate him. I wish he'd said something unpleasant instead of just sulking, because then I could have kicked him in the shin!

But, anyway, time for bed. The two of them are actually leaving early in the AM *sniffle*. Kerri and I are going down for a visit though, in three weeks (Five days in Fayetteville. Trisha says she will have fun stuff planned. I'm betting we go shopping and to the movies. *G*) But, whatever, I'll just be glad to see her--the girl amuses me to no end, and I miss her desperately now that she's so far away!

She's not even gone yet and I can't wait to see her again. :)
