Ok, so, I recently turned 26. Hurray hurray, happy birthday, all of that, meh. Last weekend my sister came up from NC and took me and friends and my favorite cousins out to dinner, and then out for drinks. My co-workers took me out for pancakes and had the IHOP servers sing the birthday song over an omelet that was sprouting candles and bacon. Yesterday my roommate and my friend Jess and I went to get my ears pierced because I'm a grown-up now. Sliding towards 30, even, which as we all know is old old old. ;-)

I've had my ears done several times and they always get--well, let's just say I've never succeeded with the piercing, and also oww. My original plan was to get my earlobes done and a cartilage piercing, but I was talked out of the cartilage because of all the other failed piercings and told that I should wait and see if this one works first. I was super nervous for some reason, much more nervous than I ever am about tattoos (and I almost got a new one of those too, it was real close) and of course it was nothing and I felt like an idiot, and my friends wouldn't even buy me an ice cream for not crying. Damn those heartless bastards.

Jess and I went to the rescue league after that because she's looking for a puppy, and we played with dogs and a big huge enormous hairball of a black cat named Stanley. I said to him 'but you go by Ray, huh,' and he meowed silently, and I came real close to having a new kitty pal. Unfortunately, Stanley has Big Issues with other cats and I didn't want to risk making both him and Jack the Cat miserable. I'm still thinking about him today, though. He was kind of like an affectionate rug. Sweet sweet.

Also, I got my Surfacing zines on Thursday night! I'm about 3/4 of the way through and so far I've loved everything. I haven't reached my own story yet, but it's 32 pages long or something and considering how many times I completely rewrote it, that's like 96 pages of effort. Counts for something, right? *grins* 240k words of OTP wallow, man. Honestly, that's pretty awesome. ♥

Ray! I can't go to those rescue places without wanting to adopt every living creature and then feeling guilty about not having the resources to do so for the next month.

Happy Belated Birthday! It sounds like your friends did you good, even if the heartless bastards wouldn't take you out to ice cream for not crying:)

Happy (very) belated birthday, you spring chicken! I can hardly wait to greet you at the ungodly hour of 8am to do registration at MJ with you. I will sing "Happy Birthday" to you at that time.

Happy late birthday!!! I got home from Escapade in the middle of last night, and I spent airport and airplane segment of my 12-hour travel experience reading the Surfacing zines! OH MY GOD!!! I took today off work, and I actually just read your story this morning, in bed, while I was being lazy and tired and not wanting to get up, and I loved it SO MUCH. It was so sweet, and funny, and such a clever oh-those-wacky-Pegasus-Galaxy-cultural-encounters plot device, and did I mention how sweet it was??? Mmmmmmm. So much goodness.

Also, damn, Giddy, you have to come to Escapade sometime! [livejournal.com profile] smallbeer and I modded an SGA panel, and there were many Torchwood panels, and a vid show with many Torchwood/Doctor Who vids, and there was a chocolate fountain in the con suite, and we had a popslash Bus School Alum Reunion panel, and I would have soooooo loved it if you could have been there. *sigh*

Permission to quote you re Surfacing

Might I quote you and link back here from the LoC post in my lj? Possibly on the website as well?

Thank you kindly,
