Me and [livejournal.com profile] misspamela have a devious plan:

giddygeek: we need to watch that movie sometime before mj
giddygeek: and then get everyone in master and commander fandom
missp: god, yes

I tried to pimp [livejournal.com profile] loveyouallwrong into the books once but it didn't seem to take, possibly because I am so overcome by my love for Jack and Stephen that I go nuts and read like, dumb sentences that I think obviously prove they are MFEO but out of context, not so much. It's not my fault! It's a long series! Lots of things happen! The movie is probably a better starting point. Although, their meet-cuteness! It's a tough choice.

But anyway. Jack and Stephen, guys. They are among my very most favorites.

AND!

MissP wrote me a story about them, which is why SHE is among my very most favorites.

The Birds And. <3<3<3

To be fair, it only didn't take because I only like books that pop out. Maybe if there were ships with little tabs so you could make them move I would be intrigued!

That is a BLATANT LIE. I forget what part I read you but I remember thinking it was not the best choice, when I was done. The books are SO GOOD, so SLASHY, and so much fuuuuun. Me and MissP were talking about Jack and Stephen and just dying with love like...all week. *grins*

So anyway. Yeah. Resistance is futile. Muaahahaaaahahaha!

Jack and Stephen make me all sorts of happy.

Me too, so much! They are one of my most beloved OTPs -- we were talking about Jack all hearty and pink and Stephen being such a scrubby, crabby, wonderful man, and I just kept flailing. Ridiculous, ridiculous amounts of love. *grins*

I adore the film beyond reason and have a massive thing for sailing ships of all kinds, so I keep trying to read the books - I own the first 8 or so - and I keep getting massively bogged down in the prose and giving up.

Um.

Let me TELL you how many of the battle scenes I skipped! MANY. Over the course of the whole series, many many many. I basically skimmed them for Stephen's name in case something interesting happened. They just drag on and on to me. The story AROUND the battle scenes -- omg, so charmed.

But the movie is excellent in its own right. It's one of the few movies that I enjoy as much as the books!

Oh, I read every last word! I love explosions and battles and action. And I love Jack and Stephen and Bondon and Killick and Tom and Davies and Plaice and .... Well. I just love it all: people and battles and ships and adventures and animals and all.

I used to have a Master and Commander icon, but it appears not to have stood the test of time. But in any case, I love those two gentlemen and their relationship so much!

Same here -- but I am generally bad about my icons. I mean, I have ~52 of Patrick's face, and 9 icons from other fandoms. *grins* Maybe we should just have a viewing of the movie at MJ. I haven't seen it in a long time, and everyone loves them so much! I'll bring the DVD in case we have a quiet moment (ha!).

Jack and Stephen have been my OTP since before I knew what an OTP was! Of course, I was the ridiculous child who got the companion book and looked up all the words I didn't know. Then when I went through the series again on audio book (oh, Patrick Tull, narrator of my heart) I was already familiar with all the sails.
